Murali Vijay solved the opening riddle in Test matches and today Rohit Sharma solved the ODI riddle by scoring a rigid century.But the opening partner of both these players is in a state of misery.
Shikhar Dhawan continued his poor run of form in the ODI against Australia. Dhawan didn't learn anything from the test series. His footwork against the swinging ball is same in tests as well as ODI.
Many felt that Dhawan would come back rocking in the shorter format of the game but that didn't happen today.
Duncan Fletcher and MS Dhoni would not be happy with Dhawan and that too with the world cup around the corner and due to the fact that their preferred addition of inform batsman Murali Vijay was ignored by the selectors. Many experts have expressed their views on the rejection of Vijay. Players should be selected on the basis of form and conditions . Vijay was eligible in both the criteria .
The tri series is the tournament for experiments and if Dhawan doesn't use the chances provided to him then India will have to try out the combination of Rahane and Rohit as the openers and Rayudu in the middle order.
Death bowling concern was also met today as India bowled surprisingly well in the slog overs.Despite losing the match against the Aussies , it is a positive that Indian bowlers came back well after Aussies got to a solid start . Indians dragged the match till the 49th over .But it could have finished earlier.Indians will hope for a better performance by Dhawan and the Indian bowlers against England on tuesday.
If Umesh Yadav can produce a perfomance like the one he produced in his last spell on a consistent basis, then it's a warning for other teams don't under estimate India's bowling..! & now Shikar is facing the same problem which gauti faced which lead to his downfall from international scenario he should curb his temptation to chase the moving away from him & stick to his basics..! and i wonder why Binny is not being included in the playing 11 since he is termed as the so called "Pace bowling alrounder" who can bring flexibility to the team ..!!!!!
