South Africa having won the first two T20I at Dharamshala and Cuttack has won the T20 series already.The third T20I is going to be held at Kolkata and India is going to play for its pride and they have nothing to lose.
The first game was pretty tight till the end and could have gone either way .But the collapse of the Indian batting line up made it easy for the Proteas to win the series.Not having to say that Dhoni lost the toss on both the occasions.Sometimes on certain pitches , toss plays a major role. The Cuttack pitch was a mystery.No one could really guess what to do on a wicket like that , which had little tinge of green and small dry cracks here and there.But excuses should not be made .India could have batted better.
So,here are things that India can do to improve their performance in following games.
1.MS Dhoni should bat at no.4
MS Dhoni has shown that he has a desire to bat at no.4 , so that he could play more freely.But last match , he played at no.6 .The Dhoni that we knew when he first came into the team was different.He changed his game so that he could help the team at tough situations.But now the need of the hour explosive batting .In T20, there is no place for dot balls.So, Dhoni should come in and just go for his shots.The Indian captain has also felt the same as he said after the match that he needs to think less in T20 and just go for the kill.Let's wait for the old swashbuckling Dhoni that we once knew.
2.Virat needs to open the batting
In T20, its all about scoring big and quick.All the teams look to capitalise on the first six overs fielding restrictions.But India has been poor at this. India's start has always been slow and this makes life more tougher for the middle order to score quick runs. Dhawan has been poor in the shortest format of the game and it should also be noted that both Dhawan and Rohit take some time to settle in and then play the shots.So,Virat has to bat at the top .He has been opening the batting for RCB in the IPL and he is successful too.
3.Suresh Raina at no.3 -NO compromise
Suresh Raina is the best T20 batsman in India. He is the seventh highest run getter in T20 cricket.We know what he could do at no.3.His record at no.3 for CSK in IPL is enough to earn his spot .So,Raina has to bat at no.3 and no compromise on that.For India , he has been batting at no.5 or 6 .He doesn't get many balls to play.
With these minor changes India can do wonders.Let's wait and watch .
