UPDATE: Renault has started bookings prior to the official launch (Availability in showrooms) in India. Get ready to grab the SUV-styling based hatchback.
I had the opportunity to see the Renault KWID in Chennai. It looks wonderful in and out. Surprisingly good when compared to competitors like Eon, Alto 800 etc.
Do enjoy reading the below article which was written one day before the international launch of KWID...
French have got some of the coolest cars around the world. For example, say Peugeot. The company was supposedly selling its cars in India decades back and unfortunately stopped selling later. Mahindra later brought “Renault” (pronounced as Ray-no) into India and we all know of the “Renault – Mahindra” Logan. It was a grand success then.

Now Renault is no
longer with Mahindra and has a joint venture with Nissan, another automotive
major from Japan. Both of them made a great fortune out of some highly
successful and renowned cars such as “bubbly” micra , “mighty” duster and "spacious" Lodgy. But it
seemed both of them had missed out on the most favourite segment of India, the “BUDGET”
segment.
When I say budget, I am surely not talking of the Nano. Well
I don’t know what segment it belongs to. I talk of the small cars such as “Evergreen”
Maruti 800, Hyundai Eon, Datsun Go etc. These cars are not for those “Petrol
heads” who cry for performance. These are for practicality and value for money.
It made the “Cars” affordable for those who had never ever dreamt of getting
one. Following the suit, Renault also has a “Budget” car coming up tomorrow.
It seems, Renault is highly ambitious about its new car,
considering the potential buyers out there. This car is called Renault XBA.
Well this is sort of a codename and we expect the car to be of some other name.
It is based on a platform called CMFA ( Common Module Family Affordable ) and the
price is expected to be below 4 lakhs.
The most interesting thing about this car is, It was developed in Chennai. It is going to be manufactured here and exported all over the world. This car is awaiting a world-wide launch. Well, we can't take so much pride in telling that, not as much as for the "Royal-Enfield".
Considering the heavy competition, we can expect that the
Renault XBA will not be feeling less premium. ( It is something we are used to
getting top-notch products from Xiaomi at insanely low prices) and pack in some
cool features to stand out from the rest. We may be seeing many “Segment-First”
features and nonetheless highest mileage ever heard of. Remember the
Maruti-Suzuki Ad?
If you are planning to buy a practical car, then save your
money and also your time. Let’s hope Renault has a surprise waiting for us and yes, that's tomorrow!
Renault has also released a teaser prior to the launch. You can watch it here:

Thanks!!!
